Semarang and Malang Report from Elder Subandriyo 17 Jan 2010
Semarang and Malang branch visit

SEMARANG (January 2, 2010)
I served in Semarang for 9.5 months as a missionary. It was so good to occasionally come back to feel the growth of the branch here. The fast and testimony meeting that Sunday was very spiritually up lifting. We had many pioneers bore their testimonies. Pak Samad, Sister Iin, Sister Koespono, Keluarga Arief Hamid, and some others. The sacrament meeting started on time. Almost every one was seated reverently 10 minutes before the meeting began. It was wonderful to see the members progresses. I met with 8 of the 10 pioneers that will be going to the temple in June. They are simple people but their faith are great! The have generations that serve mission and help convert many others. I visited a few members. One of them is a returned missionary who had part of his lower right foot cut by sharp metal sheet at his job. He is recovering and the branch will help him to get prosthesis so that he could be back to his job. The attendance on Sunday is great, almost 50% of members come for sacrament meeting. The average sacrament meeting attendance in Indonesia is 40%. I was very pleased to see the progress and the leadership in the branch. I feel unity in the branch.

MALANG (January 10, 2010)
I served in this town for 5.5 months. I was greeny under the tutor of Elder Terry Sellers. I had another great time attending their Sunday meeting. There were over 100 members came to sacrament meeting. The meeting went so well. The branch president is a returned missionary, lives 2 hours from the chapel. He, his wife and two daughters ride their motor bike to Church. I went to his home. It made me feel small to know his courage, faith and joy to be member of the Church and serve as branch president. And yet, his daily life is very simple. He has a small printing shop. I met the old timers of Malang; Pak Pramonoadi, Ibu Irawadi, Pak Soekirno, Brother Liem You An, Keluarga Hamid Rusdi, Sister Agnes/brother Jamarsono and many second generation members. That Sunday I went home bringing a sweet memory of Malang. I know the Gospel is true and when followed and obeyed, it brings blessing from heaven.

Salam kasih,
Elder Subandriyo
